The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia with the Loan Agreement 08929-MK signed between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the World Bank for Western Balkan Trade and Transport facilitation Project P162043 and Loan Agreement 09034-MK signed between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the World Bank for Local Road Connectivity Project in North Macedonia P170267, has assigned the Ministry of Transport and Communications to implement both Projects. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, shall maintain throughout Projects Implementation, a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) with responsibility to manage, coordinate, monitor end evaluate the implementation of the Projects
The Project Implementation Unit was established in November 2019, and consists of 13 consultants, responsible for all aspects of the implementation of the Projects and their components, including planning, procurement, monitoring, reporting, fiduciary functions and safeguards, in close cooperation with line ministries and public services, with a single purpose, successful and timely implementation of Western Balkan Trade and Transport Facilitation Project and Local Roads Connectivity Project in North Macedonia within the deadlines set forth in the Loan Agreements.
